The European Commission has recognised the work of the AccessCat Network, praising its pioneering role as the first knowledge transfer network in the field of social sciences and humanities in Catalonia.
The Knowledge Valorisation Platform is an initiative of the European Commission that connects key stakeholders across Europe (businesses, institutions, organisations, universities, public bodies, and policymakers) to transform research into real-world solutions and products with social value. This can take the form of economic benefits, environmental improvements, social progress, or new legislative frameworks.
Among its features, the platform curates a selection of initiatives under the label of “best practices.” According to the Commission, these examples stand out for their inspirational approaches to knowledge transfer and can serve as models for emerging projects and initiatives.
AccessCat is now part of this group. The European Commission has highlighted the network as a best practice, especially valuing its status as the first knowledge transfer network for social sciences and humanities in Catalonia.
The publication outlines the network’s key action lines and achievements since its launch in 2023. These include the cataloguing of technologies and services produced by its research groups, training initiatives focused on accessibility, funding for disruptive social sciences and humanities solutions, both local and international transfer activities, and its standardisation work to ensure that European public policies integrate accessibility considerations.
