AccessCat researchers took part in Sónar 2025, one of the world’s leading technology festivals, during a session organised by the Clúster Audiovisual de Catalunya, an affiliate entity of the Network.

From 12 to 14 June, Barcelona hosted Sónar, the internationally renowned festival of music, innovation, and creativity, which serves as a global platform for cutting-edge cultural and technological projects. In the 2025 edition, the Clúster Audiovisual de Catalunya (affiliated entity of the AccessCat Network) participated in Sónar+D, the festival’s exhibition space, where over 70 innovative tools, experimental projects, and creative ideas were showcased.

The Clúster arranged a new session of the Meet Innovations series for this edition of Sónar. This series, created to highlight forward-looking projects in the audiovisual sector, showcased many technologies, one of which was SCRIBAL, developed by CLiC and funded by the AccessCat Network. SCRIBAL harnesses neural networks for automatic speech recognition. The project was presented by Pol Pastells and Clara Puigventós.

CLiC is currently in a highly active phase, promoting SCRIBAL across multiple venues. Sónar is just one of many stages where they have demonstrated the technology. In recent months, they have also taken part in events such as the UB Science Fair, Ensenyament (the Catalan employment fair), and the Mobile World Congress. And in a few weeks, from 7 to 11 July, they will present SCRIBAL live at WSIS, the United Nations’ World Summit on the Information Society, where the platform will be shown to an international audience of state and global agency representatives.

You can read more about SCRIBAL in our project catalogue.
